Phoenix Arise

St. James, Minn., native Becky Buller was preparing to perform a show in her hometown when she heard about the fire that destroyed the greater portion of the downtown of nearby Madelia.  She wanted to do something to aid in the relief effort and help the folks in the town where her dad works.  This song immediately came to mind.

Thank you to everyone who donated and downloaded this track! Every penny went to help these folks rebuild and regain their livelihoods.

The Becky Buller Band performs “Phoenix Arise” live in downtown Madelia, MN, on Oct. 21, 2017, in front of the businesses your donations helped rebuild.

About Becky Buller

Becky Buller is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer from St. James, Minn., who has traipsed the world over performing bluegrass/Americana/roots music to fund her insatiable habit of songwriting.  Her compositions can be heard on records by Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, to name just a few.  She co-wrote “Freedom”, the first song on The Infamous Stringduster’s 2018 Best Bluegrass Grammy award-winning album Laws Of Gravity.

Becky attended East Tennessee State University to be part of the school’s renowned Bluegrass, Old-Time And Country Music Program.  She graduated in 2001 with a degree in public relations and immediately hit the road, touring as a side person in various groups until starting her own band in 2015.

Also in 2015, Becky was awarded three International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards:  Songwriter, Emerging Artist and Recorded Event Of The Year for the song “Southern Flavor”.  She also received the 2016 IBMA Female Vocalist and Fiddler Of The Year awards and is the first person in the history of the awards to win in both vocal and instrumental categories.

When not performing, Becky teaches private instrumental and vocal music in her adopted hometown of Manchester, Tenn., where she lives with her husband and daughter.  Her new album, Crêpe Paper Heart, which features the song “Phoenix Arise” as a bonus track, was released Feb. 14, 2018, on the Dark Shadow Recording label.
